Role for Foreign Aid in Sustainable Development?

Role of Foreign Aid for Spreading Sustainable Development

It often goes under the radar of already information-overloaded North
Americans, but the more developed nations of the world give a great deal
of direct and indirect aid to foreign nations.  Much of this development
has taken the form of sustainable development initiatives.  This
invaluable source of funding has improved the lives of people throughout
the world when human suffering would otherwise involve conflict.

While some efforts are clearly more effective than others, the concepts
of sustainable development have been brought to some of the poorest
places on Earth, thanks to the generosity of wealthier nations.

Some may argue that it’s akin to paying bargain basement prices for the
luxury of using resources and wealth that could be shared more equally.
Some of these poorer nations may be better equipped to handle a resource
poor future than the developed nations that funded the aid in the first
place.
